Carolyn Baum

[Gallery not found]Carolyn grew up in NYC and gleaned the cultural diversity and excitement of its environment. However, her love of nature has led her to live and work with the mountains at her front door. Looking up at them everyday, makes the spirit soar, trying to climb them keeps her humble. They influence every aspect of her life including her glasswork.

She received an associates degree from Concordia College in Bronxville, N. Y. and graduated from Syracuse University in 1969. She began teaching art in Highland, NY in 1970 and received an MS in art education from SUNY New Paltz. Summers were spent as a scuba instructor in the Florida Keys and Bahamas. To this day she continues to dive and draws on that environment for inspiration. In 1984 she left teaching and began an antique jewelry business. Her love of the glass jewelry she was selling led her to study glass working at the studio of glass in Corning, NY.
She now combines jewelry and glass working in her creative original designs.
Her glass beads and buttons have won numerous awards and have been published in national magazines. Collectors prize her beads and buttons worldwide.
